Guwahati, March 26, 2025 – In a significant move to strengthen regional communication and cultural integration, a new 10KW FM transmitter has been officially inaugurated at Akashvani Kokrajhar. The transmitter, aimed at enhancing radio connectivity across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), was virtually launched by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw from Guwahati earlier this year in January.
The newly established transmitter marks a major milestone for radio broadcasting in the region, offering crystal-clear FM transmission, improved coverage, and access to infotainment, news, and cultural programs for thousands of listeners. Officials believe this development will serve as a crucial step toward digital inclusivity and community engagement, particularly for rural and remote areas.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Vaishnaw emphasized the importance of strengthening public broadcasting services, stating, “This initiative will not only ensure better access to information but also celebrate the diverse cultural heritage of Bodoland through quality radio programming.”
Local residents and radio enthusiasts have welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that the enhanced FM services will bridge communication gaps and promote regional languages, folklore, and traditional music.
With this addition, the government continues its commitment to expanding FM radio coverage, reinforcing its role as a powerful medium for education, entertainment, and emergency communication in India’s growing digital landscape.-AirMedia Broadcast
