Coimbatore, March 27, 2025 – The long-awaited Coimbatore Metro Rail Project, initially proposed in 2011, is finally advancing, with the Tamil Nadu government pushing forward with implementation. After allocating ₹9,000 crore in 2023, authorities have now confirmed that preliminary work will begin in early 2025, marking a significant step toward modernizing the city’s transport infrastructure.
The metro project is expected to ease traffic congestion, enhance urban mobility, and support Coimbatore’s economic growth by providing a fast and efficient public transportation system. The proposed network will cover major commercial hubs, industrial zones, and residential areas, offering commuters a seamless travel experience.
