Airmedia Broadcast - An Authorized Dealer Possession License (DPL)

GTPL Hathway, one of India’s leading cable TV and broadband service providers, has received approval from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) to operate Headend-in-the-Sky (HITS) services. With this, GTPL becomes the second company in India to secure a HITS license, after NXTDigital (Hinduja Group).

Industry Reactions & Future Implications

Industry experts believe GTPL’s entry into the HITS market could drive further competition and innovation in India’s pay-TV ecosystem. The move aligns with the growing demand for affordable, high-quality digital TV services, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

“We are committed to delivering superior television services to every corner of India. The HITS approval allows us to reach more households and provide them with a seamless entertainment experience,” said a GTPL spokesperson.

GTPL Hathway, backed by Reliance Industries-owned Jio, has been rapidly expanding its broadband and digital TV services, and the HITS license further strengthens its market position. The company is expected to launch its HITS-based services in the coming months, with nationwide expansion plans in the pipeline.
