New Delhi, March 21, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reiterated that the development of villages is the first and most crucial step toward building a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India). Addressing a gathering on rural empowerment, he stressed the need for comprehensive infrastructure, digital connectivity, and sustainable livelihood opportunities in India’s villages.
“A strong and self-reliant India begins with empowered villages. When our villages progress, the entire nation moves forward,” PM Modi stated. He highlighted various government initiatives aimed at rural transformation, including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, digital banking for villages, and expanded road and electricity connectivity under the Gram Sadak Yojana.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the role of technology in bridging the urban-rural divide, encouraging digital literacy and entrepreneurship in rural areas. “From startups to solar power, we want every village to become a hub of new opportunities,” he added.
As part of the government’s ‘Viksit Bharat’ roadmap, Modi called for active participation from state governments, industries, and citizens in uplifting rural communities. Experts believe that a sustained focus on rural development will be a key driver in India’s economic growth and social progress in the coming years.
