To commemorate Independence Day 2026, the Indian Air Force (IAF) Band is scheduled to perform a special musical concert at the Public Plaza, Param Yodha Sthal, National War Memorial, New Delhi, on 09 August 2026 from 1700 hrs to 1800 hrs. The event forms part of the nationwide celebrations marking India’s Independence and aims to strengthen the spirit of patriotism and national unity through the universal language of music. The performance will also pay tribute to the rich cultural and historical heritage of the nation while fostering meaningful public engagement with the Armed Forces.

A significant highlight of this year’s event is the celebration of 150 years of the National Song, “Vande Mataram.” The timeless composition has inspired generations of Indians and remains a powerful symbol of the country's freedom movement and national identity. Through a carefully curated musical repertoire, the Indian Air Force Band will honour this historic milestone, presenting renditions that reflect the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of those who contributed to the nation's journey towards independence.

The performance will feature a talented ensemble of 40 musicians, comprising 32 Airmen and 8 Agniveervayu personnel, including three women musicians. Renowned for their precision, discipline, and musical excellence, the members of the IAF Band will present a vibrant blend of patriotic marches, ceremonial compositions, and soulful melodies. Their dynamic performance is expected to captivate audiences of all age groups, creating an atmosphere of pride, inspiration, and celebration at one of the nation's most revered memorial sites.

The concert will be led by Master Warrant Officer A. Srihari, who will serve as the Principal Conductor for the event. He will be ably assisted by Junior Warrant Officer Moon Deka, Junior Warrant Officer Abhishek Paul, and Sergeant N. T. Singh, whose expertise and dedication have been instrumental in preparing the ensemble for this prestigious occasion. Together, they will guide the musicians through an inspiring performance that showcases the professionalism, cultural outreach, and ceremonial excellence of the Indian Air Force, making the event a memorable tribute to the nation and its enduring spirit of patriotism.
